about
Eleanor was written a couple days after the tornado hit Brooklyn and my witness to the destruction it left behind particularly in the Eleanor Roosevelt Housing Projects. Thsi song speaks to the changing environment and effects on everyday people. This is the second track of a 21 week campaign to re-engage music with its community.
lyrics
If the light don't wanna come out in the day time maybe it will sparkle at night
The moon been fussin at te stars all week say I really need to rise with the sky
And if the flowers wanna grow where they never grew before
and if the trees need a break from the breeze
The season and the summer been laughin all week
I don't think them people can take the heat
Bridge
Quiet goes silent when the light turn red
Ms. Harper downstairs told the story again
And then the sun found a reason to run
Chorus
But lord what brought down all the trees in Eleanor
